| In 1953 I was born with a congenital hip defect in both of my hip joints. In other words I had such shallow hip sockets they would not hold the hip ball in place. The prognosis was not good back then in that the doctors said I would never walk or stand. So I had 3 hips surgeries before I was 5 years old, I had an experimental bone graft in my left hip when I was 11 years old, I had my left hip replaced when I was 34 and my right hip replaced when I was 39. Needless to say I have never had good range of motion and I have a lot of scars which I call beauty marks. Don Maher at Myochanics has done remarkable work in “waking up” my lazy muscles and giving them the capability to move in directions they never had before. I have been seeing him for a little over a year and will continue to do so just because I feel better and I am more confident with every step I take. When I do have what I call a bad day with pain and stiffness which causes me to have a more profound limp people often ask me if I hurt myself so I know Don’s work has helped me considerably in that my limp is not so noticeable on a daily basis. This spring when my folks came to Lockhart to visit my mom remarked ‘that she had never seen me walking so well.’
The deep tissue massage has also smoothed out my scars making them less noticeable.
Thank You Don and Myochanics!
